We are thrilled to share the impactful contributions made by Scholarship Prep school counselors and our Chief Community Officer at the recent Orange County Counselor Symposium. This annual event serves as a pivotal platform for counselors and advocates to collaborate and innovate in the realm of student support and academic achievement.

Session Highlights:

The Trojan Horse Approach: Incorporating Group Counseling Into Homework Clubs

Led by Scholarship Prep School Counselors Audrey Arias and Daphne Johnson with Kristen Crowe, Chief Community Officer, this session illuminated the vital role of counselors in creating safe spaces for students to learn and grow both academically and emotionally.

The innovative approach of integrating group counseling within homework clubs showcased the power of merging academic support with social-emotional development. Attendees left equipped with practical strategies to implement their own Homework Club model, fostering academic success while nurturing students' mental well-being.

Who Me? Yes, You! Becoming An Academic Leader On Campus

Chief Community Officer Kristen Crowe, alongside Scholarship Prep School Counselor Charity Grieshaber, addressed the pressing need for academic leadership in schools, especially amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.

By reviewing tiered academic support structures and empowering counselors to drive student learning outcomes, the session inspired attendees to embrace their roles as educational leaders. Attendees left with actionable steps to enhance their confidence and effectiveness in fostering academic excellence within their school communities.

As we reflect on our involvement in the Orange County Counselor Symposium, we remain committed to championing student success through innovative approaches and collaborative partnerships. Together, we can continue to empower counselors as academic leaders and create nurturing environments where all students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially!
