How can a willingness to persevere manifest in the face of devastating circumstances? Through art, poetry, and prose, Scholarship Prep's 8th graders explored how love paved the way to overcome the impossible in Chapman University's 24th Annual Holocaust Art & Writing Contest.

¿Cómo puede manifestarse la voluntad de perseverar frente a circunstancias devastadoras? A través del arte, la poesía y la prosa, los alumnos de 8.° grado de Scholarship Prep exploraron cómo el amor allanó el camino para superar lo imposible en el 24° Concurso Anual de Arte y Escritura sobre el Holocausto de la Universidad de Chapman.

This year's theme, The Strength of Love and the Will to Survive, connected SP's Orange County middle school students with individual Holocaust survivor stories. These personal testimonies helped our Scholars learn the historical significance and devastating impact of the Holocaust through videography.

Inspired by the theme, students wrote poems or prose or created visual art with three finalists selected by a vote of SP staff members to represent our school in the Chapman University contest. Congratulations to Alexa, Angeles, and Rodrigo for their winning entries!

Our finalists, accompanied by 8th grade English Language Arts and History Teacher Stephanie Garcia and Assistant Principal Aly Yeh, were welcomed to the Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 10. Our school representatives viewed photography exhibits, toured the Holocaust Memorial Library, and attended the awards ceremony.
